This is the second of my “Three Holiday Styles” special!
When I think for Christmas time, I think pine, lights, and warm poinsettia reds. I also think of PJs—matching flannel plaid pajamas that you always see kids wearing to open presents on Christmas morning! While that wasn’t the case for my childhood (my mother insisted my brother and I change into something “nice” to take a bunch of pictures before we could open presents), there’s an easy way to elevate simple plaid to something you can wear to a casual holiday party, or even for Christmas Day!
Take a simple fitted jacket and simply toss it on top of your plaid shirt of choice. A smudge of color on the lips, volume in the hair, and some cute bling-y accessories make for a complete casual-yet-put-together, effortless holiday look!
I’ve been pretty partial to my jacquard moto jacket from Loft that I picked up a while back… it’s definitely helped “up” a few of my past outfits, too—from a casual city stroll to New Year’s Eve glam all you need is a neutral and comfy jacket! Sound familiar? It’s because I’m in camp “jackets can be the centerpiece of any outfit”. Okay, I just made up that camp, but recall the more formal jacket and how it spruced up another holiday look!
But I also really love my “little red” coat as my all-purpose winter outerwear. It’s served me well over the years and the red is such a perfect hue for this time of year!
So, do you have any specific tips and tricks up your sleeve for creating the perfect casual holiday outfit? I’d love to hear them so please leave YOUR thoughts in the comments below! Coming soon, yet another holiday look is in the works…
