Fuchsia Cutout Chiffon Hi-Lo Maxi

Over the long holiday weekend a couple weeks back, I spent a fun-filled weekend in the greenery of Long Island with friends (new and old), great food, and vineyard wines.  I had the privilege of witnessing my beautiful big-big-big tie the knot with her now husband at the most extraordinary wedding event of a lifetime.  My biggest regret is my lack of pictures from the weekend; I unfortunately forgot to pack the DSLR’s battery with me (despite having brought TWO lenses!) and was left to poor iPhone-quality snaps.  But given my love for dressing up, and my appreciation for the versatility of the dress I wore, I decided that I would try my best to replicate my wedding guest outfit to share.

The ode to hi-lo summer maxis continues (see purple and print); I found this gorgeous dress at Express during a random stop inside.  The bright and bold fuchsia color immediately caught my eye and I loved how the side cutouts gave a youthful-yet-tasteful feel. The loose chiffon fabric falls into a beautiful silhouette and flows so well, even when walking up and down stairs!  There’s also enough give to eat and not eel self-conscious after, which is always a plus for a big eater like me! :P  Granted, I needed the help of a few inches to keep the skirt tail from sweeping the floor.  That’s where these white stiletto sandals came into play.  It’s satiny-like feel, glitzy ankle strap, and no-break-in-needed comfort made for a wonderful event shoe–little did I know that this affordable shoe is actually from Target’s wedding line!

As in my last wedding guest outfit post, I kept the jewelry simple with a small pearl ring and some a pair of crystal chandelier earrings* (not pictured) to complement the sandal’s ankle strap without taking too much attention away from the dress!  And I finished it off with a simple, oversized white clutch from Foley+Corinna—it’s a newer acquisition that drew my eye because of its unique closure handle, and it features a classic faux snake skin texture.  I was so pleased with how everything came together and also received a number of compliments on the ensemble!

*During the outfit replication shoot, I neglected to bring the earrings I originally wore and had to settle for a more muted substitute… it happens!
