Okay, you caught me. I’m wearing floral. Again. I wasn’t lying when I said that floral was a pattern I despised in my youth, but it has quickly made it’s way onto my “like” list and is very close to landing in “love”. I can hear my mom thinking “I told you so!” ;) With Easter just days away, there’s no better time to think about floral patterns and how to incorporate them in a fool-proof Sunday’s best Easter outfit! Bright whites, colored pastels, and delicate-looking fabrics are definitely on my list for Easter outfits. This is especially in contrast to the darker and grey-er color palates of winter!
With spring in full bloom, it’s now a good time to make the winter-to-spring closet transition. The seasonal turning point. This time of year, I opt for brighter, lighter colors to match the brighter and sunnier days! Lightweight, sheer, and lace materials are high on my list of go-to’s along with colors in the cool palate such as blues, aquas, mints, and lavenders. Of course its hard not to associate flowers with spring, since this is the time with buds are opening and allergies abound (if you’re anything like me!).
For Easter outfits, these are some of the things that I look for:
- Colors. Nothing too dark or overly bold, but trending toward the pastel side of things. Colors associated with flowers and greenery (blue, purple, green, yellow, pink) are high on the list. For this holiday, opt for white as the neutral chroma of choice over black, as whites will naturally lighten and “spring-ify” your look! I chose a mint-colored blouse with a soft floral print, and an open cardigan that highlights the gold-yellow petals in the print.
- Material. Sheer and lightweight options, like lace a tulle, add a delicate spring-like touch to an Easter outfit. These materials emulate the elegance of newly bloomed spring flowers and add an overall vibe of “lightness”. Here, I’ve selected a crepe blouse along with a fun, multi-layer tulle skirt to add a bit of volume! It definitely brings out a springtime air.
In thinking about it, Easter weekend always feels like a general turning point in the year, and not just in terms of outfit choices! Growing up, Easter closely tied to academic Spring break and the last stretch before the end of the school year. And now that I’m in the Northeast, the day is closely tied to the seasonal shift of winter to spring and the start of warmer, sunnier days. Basically, my take is that Easter is the Gregorian calendar mark of change! It’s actually quite fitting, when you think about it; after all, the religious holiday centers around the resurrection of a man from death back to life. And in many ways, I feel like I get a new spring in my step with the new season ahead!
Here’s to a great season ahead, and wishing everyone a wonderful holiday weekend and Happy Easter to those who celebrate! As always, thanks for stopping by! I would love to hear your thoughts too so please drop my a line in the comments below :)
