I’m continuing the high-low parade (that started here) with this fun and summery boho-inspired look! What better way to welcome the upcoming summer and celebrate the warmth than with a classic crop-top and high-waisted anything combo?
True story—this high-low skirt was once a dress. In fact, it STILL IS a dress! I first procured the final sale dress during one of bcbgeneration’s big online sales a few years ago; it featured a black cutout bodice with a gorgeous blue-pink-purple patterned high-low skirt that I absolutely loved. The natural ruffles of the skirt flowed beautifully and fell at the perfect “maxi” length for my height! Unfortuntately for me, the bodice was a touch too large and non-uniformally sown on. So, with a little bit of creativity, I decided to take the best of what the dress offered and transformed it into a high-waisted, high-low skirt by simply folding in the bodice. To my delight, this trick worked wonderfully, and I’ve been pairing this “skirt” with different tops ever since!

I’ve paired it with another stunning peice from bcbgeneration: a chic and strappy crop top featuring an open X-back. It’s probably one of the more “youthful” articles of clothing I own, but I absolutely love it for warmer days and chilling in Central Park! The high neckline makes a great base for a statement necklace, like the Loft crystal shard necklace first featured in this business casual look. And a simple pair of faux-suede booties to finish off the look.
