I now have the luxury of working at a company with a very relaxed dress code, where weekend wear blends into everyday wear. That wasn’t always the case, however, and I’ve accumulated a reasonable collection of business casual pieces from years past that are perfect for when I feel like dressing up, or have outside business meetings to attend.
Among them is this beautiful winter skirt. From a distance, the skirt gives off a softer, more subtle pink color, but close-up is when it shows its true colors. Vibrant tweed threads of white, pink, and black criss-cross to form an intricate woven pattern.
The black satin accent down the sides, along with the thicker black satin band at the waist work to visually frame the waist and hips. It’s a flattering accent.
I choose to finish off the outfit with an all-black ensemble. Not only is it naturally slimming, but the color naturally highlights the skirt as the main attraction, given its inherent black accents.
Banana Republic Tweed Skirt (old, SIMILAR on sale), Aldo platform heels (old, SIMILAR), H&M Lace Blouse (old, SIMILAR)
I’ll quickly say that I don’t recommend wearing platform heels in the office—I’m guilty of having a stash of “work heels” under my desk in the office and these were the only substitute I had at home for pictures’ sake! And for extra shoulder coverage, a trusty black cardigan goes a long way.
As always, thanks for stopping by!
