My first outfit post of 2017 and I’m bringing back some nautical details—classic navy blues with lace, scallop, and pearl details from head to toe! Perhaps I’ve found a little water-based inspiration after spending some time in the Bay Area. I spent some time revisiting the picturesque piers and waterfront harbors that I remember first visiting in my childhood years with my parents.
Just this past weekend, I flew back from the West Coast from a very relaxing and family-filled week in both Fresno (my hometown) and SF. Spending time with my parents, brother, and future in-laws reminded me of how precious that time is, and how important family is to me. It’s something that I know I too often take for granted. So as another goal of mine for 2017*, I’m hoping to better maintain and strengthen relationships with those that I love.
*my first one accompanied this delicious cupcake recipe!
San Francisco was blessed with absolutely stunning weather during my week-long visit; highs in the 50s every day? Yes, please! The warm(ish) weather made it such a joy to spend time outdoors and catered well to tourist expeditions through Chinatown, North Beach, the Embarcadero, Fisherman’s Warf… And of course all the other places an outsider like myself would want to visit :) All I needed was a light jacket or trench to accompany me and I was good to go!
The mild weather provided the perfect opportunity to shed some of those bulky sweater layers and play around with a casual combo of a lace top with comfy joggers. I snatched a great deal on the lacy BCBGeneration top (now only $20!) and love how its simplicity lends itself to a bit of everyday elegance. Also, look at those scalloped short sleeves? It’s surely a great accompaniment to a number of different outfits—pencil skirts, jeans, shorts, even over a fitted dress! And to a number of different seasons well beyond the holidays. You know I love my versatile pieces!
While I’m a little sad to say goodbye to the holiday season, I’m looking forward to new things in the year ahead! What are somethings that you’re looking forward to in 2017?
As always, thank you so much for stopping by and please leave YOUR thoughts in the comments below! As a little first-post-of-the-year bonus, I’ve included a picture of me and my fiancé below. Happy 2017 from the both of us to you!
