After a long red-eye travel day from Hawaii, I’m back in New York City (where it seems the weather is just as warm as when I left it) and am ready for the upcoming New Year festivities! Yet it still seems too soon to already be ushering in 2016…
New Years Eve immediately prompts thoughts of the famous ball drop in Times Square, confetti, glitter, glam, and glitz… And those themes resonate in the outfits many of us choose to wear to celebrate the end of one year, and the start of a new one. The colors of the night: black, gold, silver, white (+related neutral shades, ofc). The timeless contrasting, monochromatic scheme with a hint of metallic shine works well to capture the celebratory spirit of the holiday!
And while it’s always chic to rock a well fitted “little black dress”, here I wanted to show a more casual and slightly edgy alternative for NYE wear; perfect for a concert, pool hall, bar scene, or chilling with friends. Start with a simple black silhouette complete with sleek black riding boots, and simply accent it with a contrasting lighter-toned jacket and statement necklace. I’ve featured both this comfortable and effortlessly edgy jacquard moto jacket and the pearlized layered necklace in past posts, too!
This is likely to be my last post of 2015, and with that I bid you a wonderful start to the New Year! I’d also like to take a quick second to THANK YOU SO MUCH for all of your continued readership and support for penny for her thoughts… I couldn’t have gotten this far without you :) Here’s to 2016 and many more new adventures for us all!
