Last day of summer, first day of fall… it’s that time to talk about transitional outfits and summer-to-fall layers.
I have to admit, I absolutely adore fall weather and the outfit opportunities the pleasant temperature provides, but there are also some aspects of summer that are difficult to give up. Let’s take for example, summer whites. White is often considered a “summer color” and we all know the adage of “no white after Labor Day.” But to that, I say: hmph!
I happen to think that the arbitrary “fashion faux pax” of wearing white after Labor Day is a little ridiculous—I made my case last year and I’ll make my case again that white is a stunning color and absolutely appropriate to wear year-round. For one, imagine the holiday season without the classic white-and-gold festive combo?
Anyway… layers. Light layers are definitely the way to go this time of year when both the cool air of morning and evening play tag with the warmer midday sun. I’ve restyled just about all of the elements in this outfit from the moto jacket, oversized tank, jeans, and satchel to get the most out of this summer-to-fall look. It’s fun to see how spring and summer clothing can be tweaked to match the beat of fall!
